Farewell, Al Rosenberg
If you’re lucky in your life, you might meet someone who is simply funny, kind, and truly wonderful, who apparently LIVES to make people happy around him, and does so absolutely selflessly and with great joy. I knew such a man. Al Rosenberg. He passed yesterday, June 27, 2023, and my heart is broken. Professionally, Al had a long and varied career. I became aware of him when he was writing for the Howard Stern show, and then later Howard’s Channel 9 TV show, but I really got to appreciate him on the original Miserable Men radio show that aired on SiriusXM Channel 101 for five years.
He was quick, funny, able to be the brunt of a joke and could dish it out, too. Through it all, he was a genuine and thoroughly wonderful human being. He cared and appreciated EVERYONE in his life so much, and through that, he made you feel better about yourself. I hope I can be half the mensch Al was. I will miss him and his wit and charm deeply. My heart goes out to his family as they grieve the loss of this great man. May he rest easy.
